# ZoneFoundry — the iPhone control layer for Sonos homes > ZoneFoundry is an iOS-first control app for Sonos multi-room systems: voice control, natural-language music search across services, room grouping, announcements with automatic playback restore, and scenes. An iOS app that controls Sonos speakers. It adds a voice assistant, cross-service music search, multi-room grouping, announcements, and scenes on top of a Sonos system. It controls speakers directly over your home Wi-Fi, and through the Sonos cloud once you sign in to your Sonos account; an optional self-hosted home bridge adds Apple Home integration. ### Does ZoneFoundry need a Sonos account? Not for the basics. On the same Wi-Fi, ZoneFoundry controls your speakers directly over your local network with no sign-in: play, volume, grouping, EQ, queue, favorites, playlists, alarms and a simple announcement in the current room. Signing in to your Sonos account (no bridge needed) adds control away from home, the AI assistant (voice or typing), scenes, news, whole-home announcements, cross-service search, WeChat / QQ / Telegram and Claude / ChatGPT. The optional home bridge is only for Apple Home (rooms and scenes as accessories), arrive / leave-home triggers, some playlist and favorite changes while you're away, AI song requests going straight into the play queue, and an announcement fallback for older speakers. ### How is this different from the Sonos app? The Sonos app has no assistant and no cross-service search. ZoneFoundry adds natural-language control ("play something upbeat in the kitchen"), searches linked services together, restores what was playing after an announcement, and — with the optional home bridge — puts rooms and scenes into Apple Home so Siri and Home automations can trigger them. ### Can it announce messages without losing what was playing? Yes. After the announcement, the music that was playing comes back automatically. Without a Sonos account sign-in, the message is synthesised on your phone and plays in the current room (it even works without internet); once signed in, it can go to several rooms or the whole home. Neither needs a bridge. ### Does it work with Apple Home and Siri? Yes, with the optional ZoneFoundry home bridge paired in the Home app: each room appears in Apple Home as a lightbulb (On = play, brightness = volume) and each scene as a switch with the same name, so Siri and Home automations can drive them. Presence-based automations also need a home hub (HomePod or Apple TV). ### Which music services are supported?
