The player and the queue: shuffle, repeat, sleep timer, swipe actions

First: what each feature needs

Open the full-screen player

• Tap the mini player at the bottom; it's on all five tabs.
• Tap the small Queue button on the mini player to open the player with the queue already showing.
• The Now Playing card on Home: hidden by default. Turn it on under Customize Home at the bottom of Home, then tap it.
• To land on the player every time: Settings → Audio & Voice → Launch to Now Playing: "When music is playing, opening the app goes straight to the player."
• Note: swiping up on the mini player shows all rooms, not the player.

What's on the player

Top to bottom: cover art, title, artist, source → progress bar → controls (shuffle, previous, play/pause, next, repeat) → volume → three buttons, Lyrics, Sleep timer and Queue → Up Next (a preview of the next few tracks; the arrow on the right opens the full queue).

• Lyrics only works when music with a title is playing; it's greyed out for TV and other inputs.
• Tap the title to view the album, tap the artist to view the artist (from 1.0.10): the player closes and Search opens on All. Tapping the title searches "artist + title"; tapping the artist searches the artist's name. It doesn't open an album page directly; pick the album from the results.

The ⋯ More options menu

• Open in Apple Music / Open in Spotify, when the song comes from one of them.
• Sleep timer.
• Share: the system share sheet with "title — artist".
• Copy song info: copies "title · artist · source" to the clipboard and shows Copied.
• View Artist and View Album: same destination as tapping the artist or title.
• Add to Apple Music playlist: Apple Music songs only; pick an existing playlist or New Playlist….
• Add to Sonos playlist.
• Add to Sonos Favorites / Remove from Sonos Favorites; not shown for TV and other inputs.

Shuffle and repeat

• In the control row, shuffle is far left and repeat is far right. The full queue page also has Shuffle and Repeat buttons at the top.
• Each tap on repeat cycles: off → repeat all → repeat one → off. Repeat one shows a "1" on the icon.
• Claude or ChatGPT connected to ZoneFoundry can change shuffle and repeat too.

Sleep timer

All of these open the same Sleep timer panel (except the Control Center button):

• The Sleep timer button on the player, or Sleep timer in the ⋯ menu.
• The Sleep timer tile on Home → Quick Execution: shows an end time such as "Until 23:30", or Not set.
• The Stop in 30 min Control Center button stops the room that's playing after 30 minutes, without opening the app.
• The Sleep shortcut on the Home Screen widget opens the app's sleep timer panel.
• The Set Sleep Timer action in the Shortcuts app.
• Tell the app's assistant "stop playing in 30 minutes" (Sonos account sign-in needed).
• Scenes can include a sleep timer too; see Scenes.

• The timer applies to the whole group the current room is in. On the same Wi-Fi the phone sets it on the speaker directly; elsewhere it goes through the server and the Sonos cloud (Sonos account sign-in needed).
• To cancel, open the same panel and tap the last option, Cancel sleep timer. On the same Wi-Fi it's cleared on the speaker directly.

The queue

Open it from the Queue button on the player, the arrow next to Up Next, or the small Queue button on the mini player. The title reads "Queue · N tracks".

Each row

• Tap to play from that track.
• The ⋯ on the right (or long-press the row): Play now, Play next, Add to Sonos playlist, View Artist, View Album, Share, Copy song info, Remove from queue. On the same Wi-Fi, Play next moves that track to right after the current one.
• Drag the ≡ handle to reorder (same Wi-Fi only).
• Swiping a row left deletes it straight away, with no confirmation; or pull it open and tap the red trash can.

The queue page menu

• Save queue as Sonos playlist: name it and save; it also appears in the Sonos app's playlists, and songs from different services can be mixed.
• Refresh, Go to current track and Search music.
• Clear queue asks again: "Clear queue? / All tracks will be removed from the queue."
• In a long queue, when the current track is off screen, a small Now Playing bar appears at the bottom; tap it to jump back.
• An empty queue shows "Queue not active" and your Sonos play history; tap one to play it.

Swipe actions in lists (from 1.0.10)

• All is the "All >" link next to each of those two headings on Home.
• In edit mode, a playlist page only offers Delete.
• The horizontally scrolling cards on Home don't have swipe actions; long-press them instead (next section).
• In 1.0.9, the All pages for history and favorites have no swipe actions, and playlist pages only have swipe-left Delete.

Favorites and play history

Long-press a card on Home, or tap ⋯ on a row in an All page; it's the same menu:

• Play now, Play next, Play Last. For favorites, Play next and Play Last just line the item up in the queue without interrupting what's playing (on the same Wi-Fi).
• Play in another room → pick a room: switches to that room and plays there. Hidden if you only have one room.
• Long-pressing a favorite card on Home adds Remove from favorites; play history adds Remove from history.

A Sonos playlist's page

• At the top, Play all, Shuffle and ⋯: Create scene, Play Last, Everywhere, Rename, Fix sync (remove unavailable), Delete playlist.
• Each track's ⋯: Play now, Play next, Play Last, Everywhere, Add to Playlist, Remove from playlist; Apple Music tracks add Add to Library and Open in Apple Music, Spotify tracks add Open in Spotify.
• Everywhere means pick several rooms, then play in all of them. Edit at the top right lets you delete several tracks and drag to reorder.

FAQ

The queue says "Live queue not available yet"?

When your phone isn't on your home Wi-Fi and there's no home bridge online, the queue can't be read. Open it again on your home Wi-Fi.

No ≡ handle, can't drag?

Reordering is only available with your phone on the same Wi-Fi as the speaker.

Swiped something away by mistake?

In the queue and in playlists, a full swipe deletes straight away without asking. You'll need to add the song again.

View Album didn't open an album page?

By design it opens Search with "artist + title"; pick the album from the results.

Where can I see a sleep timer I've set?

The Sleep timer tile on Home → Quick Execution shows "Until HH:mm".

Which room does the sleep timer apply to?

The whole group that the currently selected room is in.

Can't find Add to Apple Music playlist?

It only appears when an Apple Music song is playing; songs from QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music or Spotify don't have it.
